St Michael's Parish - Christian Formation
Adult Education
Sunday Adult Education at St. Michael’s meets at 9am from September through the Feast of Pentecost. A variety of topics are covered using multiple media. Topics discussed range from contemporary American culture to fourth century Christian doctrine and spirituality. The conversations are always lively and thought provoking. The fellowship is always supportive and good humored. All are welcome.
Bible studies at St. Michael’s meet on Wednesday mornings both at the parish library and at the Litchfield Inn. Join either group for the marvelous quest for the word of God.
Christian Education
Our Mission: To enable children and youth from our parish to find their own paths to God. To nurture their spiritual lives through faith, study, worship and service.
St. Michael's Parish offers many opportunities for children. Our program for Christian formation includes arts and crafts, theatrical events, community service and field trips. Gathering Prayers begins at 9:45 most Sunday mornings, September through June. Children join their families for Eucharist.
Youth Group
Teens from 6th-12th grade are invited to meet each Sunday at 10 am in the Library. Teens at St. Michael's serve as Acolytes, Readers, and Intercessors, as well as in the Creche. Youth Group members collect food and stock shelves at the local food pantry, collect Christmas presents for local families in need, serve as hosts for Coffee Hour, and participate in a number of field trips. Each year youth are invited to attend the Jr. High Event held at Camp Washington. Favorite activities include the yearly trek to the Corn Maze and hosting coffee hour for the parish.
St. M's Camp
St. Michael's summer camp runs for one week each June. Children from grades K-8 participate in worship and community service. This year's theme was: "Rites of Passage". Each day we explored the history, customs and theology of four of the world's great religions, learned about their cultures and created art projects based on their traditions. We created Mandalas, made Indonesian shadow puppets, watched a video about the whirling dervishes, and much more. We played games and songs, took a field trip to a temple, as well as all our usual camp activities. Friday of camp week we spent at Mt. Tom state park, climbing the tower trail, having our annual cook out and swimming at the beach !
We had a great time!
